County Parks Volunteers BBQ Day

On Saturday, October 10, 2000, the Santa Clara County Parks showed their appreciation to their many hard-working volunteers by holding a barbecue picnic for them at Santa Teresa County Park. It was held at Santa Teresa Park's well-equipped group picnic area. John Heenan, parks volunteer coordinator (waving in the picture above), served as the head cook. The volunteers were treated to their choice of beef, chicken, or veggie burgers, as well as beans and salad. There was an astro jump in the shape of a dinosaur to entertain the kids. The day was cloudy at first, but gradually cleared up and became sunny. Many volunteers showed up, along with county park officials and park rangers. Parks director Paul Romero thanked the volunteers for their efforts. Everyone had a good lunch and got to enjoy the peaceful surroundings of Santa Teresa Park.
