On 10/20/01, the Annual Volunteer BBQ was held on a warm sunny day at the New Almaden Community Club. Volunteers and park personnel feasted on barbecued chicken, beef, sausages and hot dogs. There were cookies for dessert. There was a jump house for the kids to play in. John Heenan and Joe Schultz thanked the volunteers for all the hard work they put in, which amounted to some 30,000 hours last year. Everyone had a good time. There were T-shirts, water bottles, and other gifts for the volunteers.
